Just the Bloody Facts!
a breakdown of points to consider if you are a buyer/seller of Evie, or have her stored away
The first resins aren't “ivory” or even “cream” skin tone, due to original composition and now with age. These first dolls are from 2007-2012 (it's 2026 now ???) and were hand painted (because of this, lips are not identical in painting). The wigs were also not good, until Grave Concerns. The black fibers of original and gothic vigil have been known to stain the head. It wasn't until 2013 with Midnight Dance, that uniform wigs and resin color started rolling out.

The first resins also have a different head cap. Instead of two magnets, they have a top magnet, and almost a hinge at the base with a resin tongue and groove insert. Because magnets are glued in place, over time they can become dislodged and lost. On the eye color and wig link you'll find corresponding replacement sizes. Should you need them.

The Resin of these first dolls can, and often does  develop a “shine” on the face. The stringing, also done by hand can get loose over time, resulting in a waist or posing issue. However, it is easy to tighten them up. They also did not come with pierced ears.

Lashes on the eyes come loose, you are talking 20 year old glue. Aileen’s is great to put them in place again. Also, the putty holding in eyes becomes very solid in these older ones, if you want to change them out. It's almost a blessing if you are happy with the eyes, because “they be in there!” lol ????

Vinyl's don't have changeable eyes. They can be Frankenstein’d if you are so inclined. They are rooted and wigged hair. Due to the size of 17” they can wear a lot of other 16” fashion doll clothes, but not the shoes and hands usually need to be removed for dressing. Ears can be pierced, as most outfits come with earrings. The vinyl can yellow in color, ankles are known to snap off. as well as the waists over time. These dolls can be restrung.

Plastics don't have changeable eyes either. They can be Frankenstein’d if you are so inclined. They are rooted and wigged hair. The body is larger like the resins, and once a waist is loose, it should be taped, moleskin insert or glued, because once the internal plastic strip snaps, the doll has to be glued. They are not on elastic stringing. The plastic has held up better than vinyl or resin in color, but some heads have discolored gray or odd yellow colors. They can have pierced ears as well.

New Plastic Body Type in 2019 was released in a one time offering of Drop Dead Red. This Evangeline only, had painted eyes and the larger athletic body style. She also had rooted hair.

Family Members. There are additional dolls in the story line: Parnilla (cousin) who is in both resin and plastic form, with wigged and rooted hair. She is identified best, by her very full lips.  The male doll, Mortimer Mort plastic body and wigged hair, Amelia Whistle-Wickham (Ghostly Great-Great Grandmother, issued only once in plastic body, with wig is the only white skin tone), Angelique De la Nuit (cousin with darker skin tone, rooted and wigged hair and only in Plastic body. She was a limited issue at the end of the line production), as well as four resin pets, Mouette the Skunk, Crumpet the Mouse, Bella the Bat and Valentine the Cat.

For the 75th Wizard of Oz Anniversary, Tonner used the Evangeline body for several Wicked Witch of the West dolls. Although not an Evangeline, it was a similar facial mold, and the plastic body in a green tone.

Outfits. Faux leather disintegrated on purses, shoes (heels pull off), skirts, accents and bustiers. Likewise, the thread/elastic on necklaces has weakened, breaking or stretching out. Because there is no true black dye (blue/red/green mix), as fabric breaks down it stains. Tonner was aware and provided body suits for many outfits to keep from ruining a doll body.

NRFB isn't always good. Cardboard is man-made, and it breaks down. It also holds in moisture, bugs, dust (and who knows what else!) Likewise, the foam holding dolls in place, at the neck and waist breaks down as well. If you are storing long term, I would suggest at the very least, removing the doll and shaking out the box, then wrapping her in acid free tissue. I also suggest not using the shipper, which was very cheap cardboard and only holds in air etc. Keep in mind - just because Evie is a witch, trapping her inside a cardboard coffin isn't the best of ideas for her after market life!

Stands. No Evie came with a stand. The Black two piece, Tonner saddle stand for this line of dolls usually runs $50. Kaiser or waist stands do work well with the vinyl. Resin and Plastic need full height, so you can't use a 12" stand unless it has been retrofit for these 18" high dolls.
